AROUND THE HORN

  • LSU will don baby blue helmets to recognize prostate cancer awareness.
  • The Cardinals are coached by former Tiger player and longtime assistant coach Will Davis. He left before last season to join the Lamar staff as coach-in-waiting under longtime Lamar coach Jim Gilligan.
  • The Tigers are 2-3 against Southland Conference foes this season with a home game remaining vs. Northwestern State on May 16.
  • Gilbert makes his second start of the season. He threw 4 solid innings against UNO on Feb. 21 but was not involved in the decision.
  • After edging Ole Miss 3-2 on Saturday, LSU is now 5-5 this season in games decided by 1-2 runs.
