Giles caught 69 passes for 1,158 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2016 as a sophomore at Texas Tech. He will enroll at LSU in June and has two seasons of eligibility left. Per NCAA transfer rules, he will sit out the 2017 season. Giles chose the Tigers over Oregon and Florida State.

The 5-foot-11, 184-pound Giles was Scout's 66th-ranked wide receiver in the 2015 class out of Fort Bend Elkins High School in Missouri City, Texas. He will join his former Red Raider teammate, defensive tackle Breiden Fehoko, in Baton Rouge. Fehoko, a former five-star recruit, announced his transfer to LSU in April after spending two seasons at Texas Tech.
