Evangel's Bowers sets three visits

The recruiting process has been hectic for Shreveport-Evangel defensive end Chris Bowers but the overall picture is beginning to get a little clearer for the 6-3, 255-pounder.

Bowers has an impressive list of scholarship offers to choose from but after taking a closer look at all of the schools he knows where he wants to take his official visits - or at least most of them.

"I have three set as of right now," Bowers told Tiger Rag. "I have Texas Tech, Nebraska and Ole Miss. I am looking at LSU for the fourth one and I'm not sure about the last one."

Is there a leader out of that group?

"I won't really know until I take all of my visits and see what is out there," he said.

Bowers provides the kind of pass rush Nick Saban is looking for in his defensive ends. After logging 21 sacks as a junior, Bowers has registered six through his first three games putting him on track to eclipse last season's total.

"They (LSU) are recruiting me as a defensive end for some formations and like an outside linebacker in others," said Bowers. "It is really like a defensive end that stands up and rushes from the outside. That is fine with me. I hear from them once a week and coach (Kirk) Doll was out at practice today."
