Mitchell likes LSU atmopshere

LSU recruits the Magnolia State hard every year and this year is no exception.

One of the Tigers' top targets for 2004 is Long Beach (Miss.) defensive end Xavier Mitchell (6-4, 240, 4.8).

Mitchell made one unofficial visit to LSU when the Tigers defeated Georgia and the trip to Baton Rouge was well worth the drive.

"It was an exciting game," he said. "I love the atmosphere there."

Mitchell plans on making his official visit to Baton Rouge some time in November and he has a good idea of where he will take his other official visits.

"I'm going to go to Nebraska, Arizona State, LSU, and Tennessee," he said. "I'm waiting to get the dates set so me and mom can both go."

LSU has one of the top defenses in the country this season and Mitchell likes the style of play he sees.

"It's exciting," he said. "I really enjoy the scheme and watching the defense react to it."
