Xavier Carter comments on LSU visit

With excellent size and breath-taking speed, Melbourne, Fla., wide receiver Xavier Carter has fans and coaches around the country drooling. The 6-3 195-pounder is one of the most sought after prospects in the country, both in football and in track.

With legitimate 4.3-forty speed, he's one of the top sprinters in the nation.

"If there's a big play needed, I'm going to be the one you can go to," Carter told Tiger Rag.

Over the past weekend, Carter made his official visit to LSU.

"It was good, I was very impressed," said Carter. "The academic support facilities really stood out to me and my family."

He also said LSU's high-octane passing offense makes the team an attractive destination for a receiver with his skills.

Carter says he's put the recruiting process on hold for now. He'd much rather focus on the pending 5A state playoffs. His Palm Bay High School team is the top seed, with games set to start this weekend.

"The recruiting process is okay; it's not as bad as it was before," said Carter, who lists his top five as Florida, Florida State, Miami, LSU and South Carolina. "Since I narrowed my list down it' gotten better, but right now I'm just trying to accomplish one thing at a time."

Carter recently received a passing SAT score and is now academically eligible to play as a freshman. He has no other official visits planned but does plan to take more, and he said will wait until signing day to announce his choice.
