Favorite has choice of schools

It's said you can never have too much beef on your defensive line, and you can expect Nick Saban to continue to bring in an influx of big defensive linemen in every recruiting class.

One of his main targets for 2004 is West Jefferson's Marlon Favorite.

A 6-3 310 pound defensive tackle from Marrero, Favorite will likely have his choice of any program in the country.

"My favorites right now are LSU, USC, Colorado, Miami, and Nebraska," says Favorite.

He is currently scheduled to take official visits to Colorado on Jan. 9, USC on Jan. 16. Favorite took the ACT on October 25 and is still waiting on his test score, but he has his core grade requirements to be eligible as a freshman.

"I have a visit scheduled for LSU on Jan. 30, but I might cancel that. With them just an hour up the road I can just take unofficials and save my officials for other schools. I think I want to try and get Oklahoma State and Oklahoma in there."

"I'm really wide open right now. I'm not thinking about it with the playoffs starting." A player the size of Favorite is rarely hard to spot on a high school field.

"I'm the one always getting triple-teamed," he says with a laugh. "People call me lil' Warren Sapp. He's my favorite player, and we have the same speed and weight."

Favorite is definitely looking for a program that's a winner.

"USC is number two right now, and that's big, but then LSU is three and closer to home."
