LSU schedules series with Arizona State

LSU and Arizona State have agreed to play in two football games, beginning with a 2005 meeting in Tiger Stadium, it was announced Tuesday.

The Tigers and Sun Devils will play on September 10, 2005, and will play again in Tempe, Arizona, on September 6, 2008. The 2005 game will mark the first-ever meeting of the schools in football.

"Intersectional games are always exciting for fans and players alike, so we're glad we were able to work out this series with Arizona State," said LSU senior associate athletics director Dan Radakovich, who handles football scheduling for the Tigers. "We want to enhance our home non-conference schedules, and also give our fans the opportunity to travel to other campuses where perhaps they haven't traveled in the past."

LSU was previously scheduled to play North Texas on September 10, 2005. That game has been moved up to a September 3 season opener.

LSU is still searching for an opponent for its 2004 season opener in Tiger Stadium.
