Linebacker/Fullback Discusses his commitment

LSU picked up a huge commitment over the weekend when big time LB/FB Matt Stoltz announced his intentions to wear the Purple and Gold. We caught up with the Arkansas native to see what convinced him that the Louisiana Bayou was the place he wanted to spend the next few years of his life...

"I committed to LSU over Tennessee, Virginia, Nebraska, Iowa, and Oklahoma State," said Matt Stoltz. "It really came down to the fact that I just felt it was the best place for me. They're losing 4 linebackers this year, they have a great coaching staff, and they have really been recruiting well. I think I can win a National Title at LSU, and that's a big factor," Stoltz said.

Matt visited Baton Rouge a few weeks back. What were his impressions?

"I went there for the Auburn game, and I liked the entire thing. The fans are crazy, and everywhere you look there is someone tailgating around you. I also met Coach Saban and that was great too."

What did he think of the Head Coach?

"He really knows what he's doing. He just seems to have a plan for everything. I respect him a lot."

Did Stoltz feel any pressure from the home folks to stay in Arkansas?

"Yeah, I got a lot of comments and stuff from people. They all wanted me to go to UA, but this is my decision. I have to do what's going to make me happy, and what's going to be best for me."

Stoltz says he is through visiting all other schools, and he is focused on the playoffs. His team is currently 9-2, and enter the 2nd round this Friday evening.
