Russell favors LSU

With the early success of young defensive backs like LaRon Landry and Jesse Daniels, look for LSU to continue to pull in some of the best high school defensive backs in the country.

Tracey Russell of Airline High School in Bossier City is one of Louisiana's best, and right now definitely holds LSU near the top of his list.

"My heart is definitely with LSU," says Russell. "I'm looking for a nice school with a good winning program, and LSU is definitely doing well this year."

Russell lists his favorites as LSU, Ole Miss, Oklahoma and McNeese State. Staying in state may be a priority for him, as he lists LSU and McNeese a little above the rest of the pack.

He has a visit set for Oxford in December, one for McNeese set for January and is currently waiting to plan a visit to LSU with linebackers coach Kirk Doll, who is in charge of recruiting him.

Russell has already made his way down to LSU for a few games this season and definitely liked what he saw in Baton Rouge.

"(Tiger Stadium) has a big, big, loud crowd," he says. "I could definitely picture myself playing in an environment like that."
