Alabama DB coming on strong

The prowess of LSU's pass defense this past year has made Nick Saban's team an attractive destination for some of the country's top defensive backs.

Tony Bell of Alabaster, Ala., is one of the nation's top prospects and plans on taking a hard look at LSU as the recruiting season begins to heat up.

"I had ankle problems and I hurt my knee, so I didn't have as good a year as I would have hoped," said Bell. "But I finished strong. In my last game I had 15 tackles, four tackles-for-loss and two sacks."

Bell listed his favorites as Georgia, LSU, Auburn, Tennessee, Clemson, and Ole Miss. He plans on visiting Ole Miss in December and has visits set for Georgia on January 16 and Auburn on the 23rd. Bell has a visit set for Baton Rouge on January 30.

He said one of the chief factors in his decision will be playing time, and that watching true freshman LaRon Landry start for the Tigers definitely makes them attractive.

"It's good that they'll play a freshman (at LSU)," Bell said. "That shows me they'll play who is the best no matter his age, and I feel like I'll have a fair chance."
