Tigers add commit from underrated DL

Charles Alexander has an impressive list of offers, but he has ended the suspense and made a pledge to LSU.

LSU finished with the #1 class in the south last year, and they are well on their way to duplicating that feat again this season. The Tigers picked up a commitment from Charles Alexander.

"I committed to LSU last week," said Alexander. "I want to stay pretty close to home. I wanted to play with one of my former teammates (Jesse Daniels), and I want the chance to play on one of the best defenses in the country."

Alexander's offer list was as impressive as any defensive lineman in the country, and it certainly doesn't reflect his ranking. We will re-evaluate him as soon as we get senior film.

"The other teams I was looking at were Oklahoma State, Florida State, Auburn, and Tennessee," said Alexander. "I had offers from all of them."

Alexander played defensive end and defensive tackle as well as offense for Breaux Bridge, and their season ended in the first round of the playoffs. He had over 100 tackles and seven sacks. Alexander is close to becoming a full qualifier, and he shouldn't have any trouble becoming academically eligible now that he has six months to concentrate on academics with no distractions.

"I was going to play basketball this year, but I decided to take the year off and chill out a bit and focus on football."
