Alexander reflects on LSU commitment

With the 2003 regular season over and scholarship spots filling up fast, the commitments are starting to file in for Nick Saban and LSU.

Breaux Bridge's Charles Alexander recently made his pledge to the Tigers public.

"What it came down to was a chance to play close to home," the 6-3 255-pounder told Tiger Rag. "LSU has a great group of guys and they really take pride in defense. Everything was impressive."

Alexander said he attended every LSU home game, and the Tiger Stadium atmosphere also had a major effect on him.

"Whoa, that place is loud," he said. "That's the kind of place that everybody wants to play." Alexander had been considering Florida State, Oklahoma State, Michigan, Michigan State, and Florida. He said the number of phone calls he kept receiving also factored into his decision to commit early.

"It was getting nerve wracking," Alexander said. "I really just wanted to get it over with."

Alexander said he has no plans to take any official visits but admited that it is not completely out of the question.
