COUNTDOWN TO SUGAR: <br>Tigers arrive in Big Easy

It's the calm before the storm in New Orleans as second-ranked LSU reports to the Big Easy to begin preparations for the national championship game against Oklahoma at the 70th annual Nokia Sugar Bowl.

LSU and Oklahoma will square off with a national title on the line on Sunday, Jan. 4 at 7:22 p.m. in the Louisiana Superdome. The game will be televised to a national audience by ABC, while ESPN will carry the game on the radio to a worldwide audience.

The Tigers, who last practiced on Dec. 23, will come by bus and by car to the New Orleans Marriott by noon on Sunday. The Sooners, ranked No. 1 in the Bowl Championship Series standings and No. 3 in both major polls, arrived in New Orleans today.

After settling in at the hotel and getting unpacked for what will be a 9-day stay at the Marriott, LSU will then have a team meeting at 1:45 p.m. on Sunday followed by a practice at the New Orleans Saints Facility in Metairie at 3:45 p.m.

The Tigers will wrap up their evening with a nighttime cruise on the Mississippi River aboard the Creole Queen.

Tiger Rag's David Folse is on the scene and will have exclusive coverage of the Tigers' arrival in New Orleans later this evening. Check out each day for the "Countdown to Sugar," our day-by-day journey through this week leading up to the Nokia Sugar Bowl.
