LSU salutes Dale Brown

The Southeastern Conference, the LSU Athletics Department and the LSU Basketball team are joining forces to honor former LSU coach Dale Brown this season and LSU's portion of the tribute will take place at a game he considered one of the most important each year -- the Tigers annual battle against the University of Kentucky.

LSU and the Wildcats will meet at the Maravich Assembly Center on Sunday, Feb. 29, at 3 p.m. in a game regionally televised on CBS Sports.

Coach Brown was the head coach at LSU from 1972-1997 and took the Tigers to two NCAA Final Fours (1981, 1986), 4 SEC Titles (1979, 1981, 1985, 1992), 13 NCAA Tournaments (including a then SEC record 10 straight) and has the second most wins behind only Adolph Rupp in conference history, 448.

The Southeastern Conference is honoring Brown at the SEC Tournament in Atlanta as one of the league's Living Legends of college basketball, honoring former players and coaches from the teams in the league. SEC officials will be on hand for the ceremonies honoring Coach Brown at halftime of the LSU-Kentucky game.

All former LSU players who played during Coach Brown's tenure are invited and encouraged to attend the game. Former players wishing to attend the game should contact Wanda Carrier at the LSU Athletic Director's Office at 225-578-3600 by Thursday, Feb.26 at 5 p.m.
