Florida LB has LSU Ties

Jon Demps is one of the top prospects in the state of Florida for '05. He has family ties to the Bayou Bengals, and he grew up liking another team. Demps talks about his current favorites.

Jon Demps is one of the top outside linebacker/defensive end prospects in the state of Florida. As a junior at Washington, he had 145 tackles and seven sacks. He has already picked up one offer, and the offer will not be his last.

"LSU offered me already," said Demps. "My brother Willie Demps is at LSU right now. Miami was my favorite team growing up though. My Top 5 right now is Miami, LSU, Virginia Tech, Florida State, and Florida."

At 6-4 and 215 pounds, Demps has an excellent frame to play outside linebacker or defensive end. He runs a 4.6 forty and is extremely strong with a 315 pound bench press. While he could play several different positions in college, there's little doubt what he prefers based on who he tries to pattern his game after.

"I like Ray Lewis. He plays with a lot of emotion, and he's always a factor in the games."

Demps attended several LSU games last year when he found time in his busy schedule. On top of being a star on the gridiron, Demps plays center and power forward for his basketball team as well as competing in the shot put for his track team. He is a good student and should have no trouble qualifying.
