"I haven't gotten any offers yet but a lot of schools are telling me they are going to be looking at me in the upcoming season and making sure I keep my grades up," said the 6-4, 340 pound right tackle. "The schools I really like and that I am looking at right now are Nebraska, Oklahoma, LSU, West Virginia and Ohio State."
Is there a leader in that group?
"I'd love to go to LSU," Jones said. "I was looking to get a little farther away from home but I'd love to go to LSU. LSU is my No. 1 choice and then Nebraska."
What stands out about Nebraska other than getting away from home?
"I've done a lot of homework on Nebraska and it seems like they have a nice campus and a good football program."
Jones works hard in the weight room with a 335-pound bench and he squats 510. His strength is one of the things that enables him to stay ahead of his opponents.
"For a person my size I can move a little better than most people my size," he said. "I work hard so I can be a little stronger than the defensive linemen I go up against."
Jones has some ground to make up in the class room, but he is close enough now that he can easily become a qualifier next year.
Once he gets a qualifying test score the offers should start coming in for this talented tackle.
