Aubrey a big threat for Teurlings

One of the most athletic receivers in the state is Lafayette (La.) Teurlings Catholic's Luke Aubrey (6-4, 210, 4.6).

He has great athleticism and deceptive speed that give defensive backs nightmares, and he catches the ball well in traffic.

Aubrey caught 43 passes for 654 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior and was a big threat in the Rebels' passing game.

"He has good ability to go up and get the ball," said Teurlings Catholic head coach Sonny Charpantier. "He's good hands and he is just so big. He is a good athlete with lots of ability and a lot of potential."

His college position may be a little bit of an unknown at this time because he could play receiver or grow into a tight end, but college coaches have also mentioned the possibility of moving him to defense and making him a pass rush specialist.

"I don't know if he will be a receiver, but he has the frame to put on some weight and play either tight end or defensive end," Charpantier told Tiger Rag. "Coaches are infatuated with his size. He's definitely a good D-I prospect."

If Aubrey could choose a position for the next level he would stay put.

"I would prefer to play wide receiver right now," he said. "I like the size matchups. I think I would be better equipped there at the next level."

Out of all of the schools that are recruiting him Aubrey has a top five for now.

"LSU, Auburn and Florida have been showing the most interest as of now," he said. "I also like Alabama and Ole Miss but LSU, Auburn and Florida are at the top."

Aubrey made an unofficial visit to LSU over the weekend for the Tigers' spring game, and everything associated with the weekend made a good impression on him.

"I like the atmosphere and the way the fans are attracted to the team," he said. "I thought the team looked pretty good but it was hard to tell with the squads split up."

Aubrey is fully qualified so look for some scholarship offers to come his way real soon.
