Tigers, Rebels will fight for Fulmer

LSU and Ole Miss are big rivals on the gridiron and it looks like the Tigers and Rebels will fight it out for Sterlington (La.) defensive end Justin Fulmer.

"Right now LSU and Ole Miss are my favorites," Fulmer told Tiger Rag. "Ole Miss would probably be my favorite. I also like Arkansas and TCU, and I want to take a look at Nebraska and Florida."

Fulmer is hearing from all of his favorites but he does not have a scholarship offer yet. So what stands out with his two favorites?

"With Ole Miss it's real pretty over there and the people have a real down to earth attitude," he said. "I know some people who went there so that kind of helps. If I go to LSU I won't get to play early and that is the main thing. I want to play and not have to wait until my junior year."

Last season Fulmer logged 62 tackles and 11 sacks but he hopes to improve those numbers in the 2004 season. The 6-5, 280-pounder has a combination of size, speed and strength that many prospects on the prep level would love to have.

"I'm pretty fast for my size and I'm usually stronger than everybody else," said Fulmer who benches 405-lbs. and squats 540. "I have decent technique but I make up for it with my strength and speed."

Fulmer said he should have close to a 3.0 (GPA) by the time he graduates and he will take the ACT for the first time in June.

As for camp plans he intends on camping at LSU, Arkansas, Ole Miss and the Nike Combine at Baton Rouge.
