Demps has Tigers on top

Jon Demps (6-4, 225, 4.65) is the younger brother of current LSU linebacker Willie Demps and he has the Tigers at the top of his list of schools he is considering signing with in February.

LSU, Florida State and Miami are my top three," Jon said. "They're all equal right now."

Demps is one of the top high school linebackers in the country for the Class of 2005 and at the top of LSU's wish list. He has the size, speed and knowledge of the game to be a future All-American in college but at what position?

"I want to stay at linebacker but if the coaches want me to I'll put on some weight and play defensive end," said Demps who has offers from all of his favorites along with Florida, Maryland and Clemson to name a few.

As a junior, Demps posted some impressive numbers at Pensacola High School and earned a reputation as one of the top defensive players in Florida to keep an eye on in 2004. He finished the season with 145 tackles and seven sacks and was selected first team All-State in the Sunshine State.

The thought of being able to play college football together is something the Demps' brothers has always looked forward to but Jon said LSU has more going for it than that.

"I know they are fixing to have a good little dynasty coming up," Jon said. "I know some of the players too and Tiger Stadium is awesome. It gets pretty crazy down there."

So what will be the deciding factor in choosing a school?

"I'm looking for the place I can feel comfortable at and that I can fit in with the defense," Jon told Tiger Rag. "I want to go right in and play."

Demps said he expects to be academically qualified to play as a true freshman. He has a qualifying GPA and is waiting on the results of his latest ACT.
