Oghobaase rated No. 1 OT in Texas

Alief-Hastings (Texas) is home to the top rated defensive tackle prospect in the Lonestar State in Vince Oghobaase.

The 6-6, 300 pound tackle has racked up on scholarship offers but he is taking his time at narrowing his focus on schools.

"I've got 24 or 25 offers right now," Oghobaase told Tiger Rag. "To tell you the truth I'm wide open about now. It's too early in the game to have any top schools. I haven't taken enough visits yet. Once I visit more schools then I can narrow down my list."

Some of the schools extending offers include the top programs in the country like LSU, Oklahoma, Miami, Texas A&M, Florida, Georgia and Michigan to name a few.

Oghobaase has made two unofficial visits thus far and one of them was to Baton Rouge to check out LSU.

"It was real tight," he said of the visit. "That was the first school I went to when I went there for their junior day. It was real cool over there. The campus was real nice."

Not every prospect gets to spend one-on-one time with the head coach at events like junior day but Oghobaase did just that because he is such a special player and regarded so highly by Nick Saban.

"He was a real cool guy," Oghobaase said. "He was telling me about the program they got there and the freshmen academic program they have to help the freshmen out."

Academics are very important and will play a key role in determining where Oghobaase plays his college football. He has a 3.6 grade point average and is awaiting the results of his May 1 SAT.

Tiger Rag asked the big man what makes him stand out on the field other than his imposing physique?

"Getting penetration and separation from the man in front of me and stopping the run between the tackles," said Oghobaase who benches 325 pounds and squats 505.

When Oghobaase does narrow his list some of the schools to look for are LSU, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Miami and Florida.

However, that is not set in stone……
