Hahnville DT Roussel rated among best in LA

Hahnville (La.) defensive tackle Rashad Roussel is the sixth rated prospect overall in Louisiana and one of the best at his position in the South.

The 6-2, 265-pounder, who made first team All-State as a junior, is tremendously quick off the ball and is strong enough to overpower larger offensive linemen.

Roussel has 10 offers to date but six schools stand tall above the others.

"I like West Virginia (offer), Oklahoma State (offer), LSU, Miami, Florida and Mississippi State (offer)," Roussel said. "I'd say Oklahoma State is my leader. I just like coach (Terry) Dailey (OSU defensive line coach) a lot. I feel like I can talk to hi about anything. He's a cool cat."

LSU recruiting coordinator Derek Dooley is recruiting Roussel with the help of Roussel's first cousin and starting LSU safety LaRon Landry. Both are doing their best to captivate Roussel's interest and it seems to be working.

"LSU came by in the spring and they want me to go to a camp to get a look at me," said Roussel. "Coach Dooley said he likes the way I beat the person in front of me and the way I find the ball. I like LSU because it's close to home and I watch them a lot. I think before it's all over they will offer."

If LSU comes forth with an offer it could cause Roussel to have to make one of the toughest decisions of his young life.

"That would be a tough call," he said of choosing between LSU and Oklahoma State. "I know my mom wants me to stay close to home but it's my decision. I'm going to take my visits and go wherever I feel the most comfortable at."
