Ga. WR Kyles could be a fit at LSU

Wide receiver is not a big priority for Nick Saban in his 2005 signing class because he signed three of the top wideouts in the country in each of the last two years.

The Tigers' head man is looking for at least one in this class and one he has been keeping a close eye on is Milledgeville (Ga.) Baldwin's Nick Kyles (6-2, 185, 4.5).

Kyles is coming off a stellar junior season where he had 52 catches with 11 of them going for scores. He also played a little nickel back when his team needed a big play on defense and registered two interceptions.

"I'm a receiver in college," said Kyles who picked up first team All-State and All-Region honors at that position. "I have good speed and great hands. I run good routes and I'm very disciplined. I'm a good possession receiver but I'm more of a big-play guy."

Kyles claims scholarship offers from 15-16 schools and he says he is keeping an eye on Georgia, Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Tennessee, Miami and LSU.

All of the schools mentioned have extended a scholarship offer except for LSU but Kyles is still considering the defending national champs.

"I like LSU a lot but they have not offered me," he said. "They are the national champions and I like coach Saban. If LSU offers then I'll consider them a little more but as of now they haven't offered."

Georgia is considered the team to beat by most observers and it will be tough for any school outside of the Peach State to steal him away.

"I like Georgia because it is real close to home," Kyles said. "I think Georgia is going to be a great team in the future and I like coach Richt a lot."

What about the other schools that are mentioned as his favorites?

Florida---"I like them because they pass the ball a lot. They have a young quarterback and I'd like to be able to play with Chris Leak."

Florida State---"They are always in the top 10 and they have great tradition. I like coach Bowden a lot and hopefully he will not retire."

Auburn---"I like them because they are in the SEC and always have a good team."

Tennessee---"Tennessee always has great receivers and good quarterbacks. I feel like I would have a good chance to go pro if I went there."

Miami---"To me Miami always has a good team and I like the way they pass the ball a lot."

Kyles has the grade point average he needs but is a couple of points away on the ACT from being a full academic qualifier.

There are a lot of good receiver prospects in the South and Kyles is near the top of the list.
