Update: Evan Sharpley, Marshall, Mich.

Nick Saban's final summer camp is less than two weeks away and it figures to be a huge draw for some of the top high school players in America.

Evan Sharpley is a four-star prospect from Marshall, Mich. and rated the 15th best quarterback in the land by TheInsiders.com.

He is hoping to try and squeeze one more unofficial trip to Baton Rouge before he reports for his senior year of high school. Even if the 6-2, 200-pounder does not make it down South that does not mean the Tigers are out of the hunt.

"I am still interested in LSU and really was impressed during my visit in April," Sharpley told Tiger Rag. "If my schedule permits I may come down to a day of LSU's camp at the end of July. I have already camped at Michigan, Notre Dame and Purdue."

LSU's athletic program overall is considered one of the finest in all of collegiate sports and the facilities are right up there too. That is one reason LSU is able to attract the nation's finest athletes, not only for football, but other sports as well.

"They have established championship programs in both football and baseball and that is important to me," said Sharpley, who is a standout on the diamond as well and hopes to have a chance to play both sports at the next level. "The current facilities were great and the new football building is going to be a big plus to the already outstanding facilities."

When Saban added former Michigan State head coach Bobby Williams to the staff he not only landed a great coach but also someone with strong recruiting ties to the Midwest. It appears Saban, Williams and Jimbo Fisher are all doing their part in recruiting Sharpley.

"I was very impressed with coach Saban," Sharpley said. "We talked for about an hour when I was down there before. Coach Williams is the one recruiting me and I do hear from coach Fisher too."

Sonny's Take: A decision from the standout signal caller could come before he reports to fall practice in August and the schools in the hunt remain the same—LSU (offer), Iowa (offer), Wisconsin (offer), Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Purdue. I think it is critical for Saban and company to get Sharpley down for the upcoming camp for the Tigers to have shot. Also, pay close attention to Rob Schoenhoft's decision which could come in the next few days.
