Update: Rudy Odom, Mandeville, La.

The LSU camp scheduled for the last week in July is going to be huge for four-star prospect Rudy Odom.

He received a verbal offer from Nick Saban and Will Muschamp a couple of months and it kind of caught him off guard.

"I was real excited but a verbal offer really doesn't mean a whole lot," Odom told Tiger Rag. "They said if I went to their camp they would probably give me an official offer. It is awesome they think of me like that but it is all about performing at the camp. They said I would play offensive line if I went there."

Eighteen schools have offered the talented 6-4, 275 pound prospect from Mandeville-Fontainebleau and he said he has narrowed that field down considerably with a commitment coming by the end of the summer.

"I have a top five but it is not set in stone," Odom said. "In no particular order it is Auburn (camp), LSU, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State (camp) and South Carolina. Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss and Oklahoma State are all pretty even and South Carolina would be fifth. Once I go to LSU and Ole Miss in a few weeks I will probably know who my leader is."

Although Odom is quick to point out that he will not have a leader until his final unofficial visit of the summer to Ole Miss he does concede that the LSU program has a lot going for itself.

"It is close to home and I have been watching them since I was young because they are the home team," he said. I went to a game there two years ago and it was awesome. I loved Death Valley. I could definitely see myself being happy there."
