Update: Rudy Odum - Mandeville, La.

Rudy Odum went to Nick Saban's camp a few weeks back hoping he would get a better feeling for where he stood with the LSU coaching staff.

He has had a verbal offer from the Tigers for a few months now but he said that does not mean anything until he gets the offer in writing.

Instead of getting a clearer picture of the situation Odum left Baton Rouge a little more puzzled about the offer status than before he went to the camp.

"The camp went well," said the 6-4, 265-pounder. "It was the hardest camp I had been to. I talked to all of the coaches and they liked the way I played. They kept me on defense which was kind of weird because they said they I would play on the offensive line if I went there. They said they would be coming to some of my games during the season."

Defense is where Odum has received most of his recognition from as an aggressive defensive end who plays all over the field. Last season he registered 65 tackles, five sacks and 27 quarterback hurries with First-Team All-District recognition coming his way.

Auburn, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State and Tennessee have offered and made up his top five along with the Tigers before the camp. He said then that he did not have a leader but has anything changed as of late?

"No," he said. "Everything is still the same."
