Black says it's LSU

After a little lull in picking up commitments Nick Saban has picked up his second verbal in the last five days with the oral commitment of Tyler (Texas) Lee offensive guard Ciron Black (6-5, 315, 5.4).

"I committed today," said Black, who picked LSU over offers from Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Baylor, Arizona, and BYU. "I called coach (Mike) Collins and he got me hooked up with coach Saban. We talked a little bit and he said was excited to get the chance to work with me in the future."

Aside from the offers he had already picked up the four-star prospect said Texas was close to offering and Nebraska, Oklahoma and Miami was recruiting him real hard.

The Tigers will be getting a great looking guard prospect with good strength (325 pound bench and 460 pound squat) and good mobility.

"I have good agility and quick feet for a big man," Black said. "My pass blocking and run blocking are equally impressive. One of my favorite things is to pull and kick out on linebackers."

Black has never been to Baton Rouge but he heard enough about the school from the coaching staff and his old high school teammate and current LSU quarterback Matt Flynn to put an end to all of the recruiting madness.

"I just fell in love with the school," he said. "I like the offense and when I watched them practice on TV they looked good. The coaches said I would have a chance to play early because they have a lot of junior and senior guards. I really liked that."

One thing Saban will have to deal with concerning Black is the fact that he committed without ever checking out the campus. Anytime that happens one has to be leery of whether or not the commitment is solid.

Does Black plan on taking any of his official visits before signing with the Tigers in February?

"I do not know," he said. "My parents are asking me to but right now my commitment is real strong."
