Harris: "LSU the team to beat"

Alexandria (La.) free safety Nic Harris (6-3, 203, 4.5) is feeling the effects from recruiting and he could put an end to all of the madness at any time.

"LSU is the team to beat," said Harris, who is coming off of a super junior campaign where he picked off 10 passes, made 125 tackles and took home First-Team All-State honors. "I am leaning there because of the comfort thing. There was a rumor going around that I was going to commit to LSU but as of now I am open to listen to the others. At any time, though, I could pull the trigger with LSU."

The Tigers' coaching staff has put in a lot of time and hard work with Harris and that is something that has not gone unnoticed.

"They are going that extra mile and making sure I am comfortable with everything," Harris said. They are making sure I am taken care of."

More than 20 other schools have tried to make a lasting impression with the Alexandria native and extended a scholarship offer including Michigan, Miami, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Florida, Florida State and Ohio State. Out of that impressive group Miami, Nebraska, Michigan, Texas A&M and Oklahoma have made the biggest strides.

"Miami, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Michigan are the others I am keeping a close eye on," he said. "I do not have a favorite out of that group because those are all good schools."

LSU will get Harris' first official visit the weekend of the Oregon State game (9/3) with Texas A&M (9/17) and Nebraska (10/1) to follow. As for the other two we will just have to wait and see.

That is assuming Harris does not pull the trigger and put an end to all of the madness.
