Todd Cox looking to visit LSU

LSU is always looking for quick athletic linebackers and it looks like the Tigers will get a chance to host one of the best in the country for an official visit in December.

Todd Cox (6-1, 195, 4.6) of Memphis (Tenn.) Harding Academy has a ton of scholarship offers but seven schools remain in contention for his services and LSU is one of them.

"I'm trying to take official visits to Tennessee, LSU, Florida, Miami and USC," Cox told Tiger Rag. "I'm also looking at Memphis and Florida State too. No one really stands out above the others because I really like them all."

LSU assistant coach Travis Jones spoke with Cox last week and reiterated just how bad the Tigers would like to sign him in February.

"He just told me they are very interested in me and he wants me to come down for a visit," Cox said. "He said I fit in good with the kind of defense they run."

The Volunteer State is not fertile recruiting ground for the Tigers but Cox took an interest in the defending national champs after an informative visit from Nick Saban during the May evaluation period.

"I like the fact they won the national championship," Cox said. "I also like the style of ball they play on offense and defense. They have good coaches too."

Tiger Rag asked Cox what he is looking for in a school and he replied, "I want to fit in with the coaches and players, and I want to play as a freshman."
