Top-rated S Phillips lists LSU in top five

Kenneth Phillips (6-2, 195, 4.45) is the nation's top rated safety prospect and he has commonly mentioned LSU as one of his top five schools ever since Nick Saban paid him a visit in the spring.

Has anything changed of late with the standout free safety from Miami (Fla.) Carol City and the Tigers?

"I still like LSU but it's been a long time since I talked to anyone from there," said Miami (Fla.) Carol City standout. "I have not had any contact with them since that first week they could start calling in September. I want to know if they are still interested because I am still interested in them."

Along with the Tigers, Phillips lists Miami, Florida State, Florida and North Carolina State as his top five. Is he leaning anywhere?

"I still do not have a leader," he said. "Everyone is equal right now."

While he claims everyone is equal at this point, Phillips said he knows what it is going to take for him to choose a school.

"I am going to go where I fit in with the coaches and the players the best," he said. "I also want to make sure I fit in with the defensive scheme they run. Basically, I am going to go where I feel the most comfortable at."

For now, the focus for Phillips is on his finishing up his senior campaign with a bang and getting Carol City back to the playoffs and a run at another state crown.

"We are 4-1 right now," he said. "Things are going pretty good. I am doing well but I wish teams would start throwing my way so I could get some action. I have 46 tackles but no interceptions."
