Augustus, a 2004 Kodak All-American, is one of the nation's leading candidates for various 2004-05 National Player of the Year awards, including the Wade Trophy, the Women's Wooden Award and the Naismith Award. Last season Augustus was a finalist for both the Women's Wooden Award and the Wade Trophy.
The Baton Rouge native led LSU to the program's first NCAA Final Four in 2003-04 by averaging 19.5 points and pulling down 5.9 rebounds. She also led the NCAA Tournament in total points scored, pouring in 121 in LSU's five tournament games, including 29 points against both top seeded Texas and Georgia to win the West Region.
Already this preseason, the 6-1 junior guard has been named first-team All-American by numerous publications, including Lindy's and Street & Smith's.
The website, designed by the LSU Athletics Publication's office, features her biography, a photo gallery, video, quotes about Augustus from people around the nation, her game statistics, the 2004-05 Lady Tigers' roster and the schedule.
The site will be maintained by the Sports Information Department and will be updated throughout the season.
