Demps tripping to LSU - again

Four-star linebacker Jon Demps is highly regarded by the LSU coaching staff and he will take his third unofficial visit to Baton Rouge this weekend when the Tigers play host to Vanderbilt.

The 6-3, 223-pounder from Pensacola (FL) Washington gets a call from someone on the LSU coaching staff every week but he has taken notice of the special attention head coach Nick Saban is giving him.

"He (Saban) called last Wednesday before they played Troy," Demps told Tiger Rag. "I see it as a blessing to get the special attention from the head coach of LSU. There are a lot of other guys at my position that do not get to talk to him as much so it's an honor."

Aside from chatting with Saban, the standout linebacker said he also hears from Tiger assistant coaches Will Muschamp (defensive coordinator) and Travis Jones (recruiting coordinator/defensive line).

What are the Tigers telling him?

"They tell me how bad they want me and how I would fit in over there," he said. "They said I could come in and probably redshirt then play the Mike (MLB) spot as a redshirt freshman."

There have been some reports indicating Demps was leaning to staying in the Sunshine State to play his college football but he quickly shot down that rumor.

"That is not he case at all," he said. "Wherever I feel most comfortable at and where I have a good future is where I will go. It doesn't matter what state I live in."

For the record Demps said he is focusing on the big three in Florida (Miami, FSU and Florida), Auburn, Ole Miss and the Tigers.
