LSU remains in CB Evans' top five

Bryan Evans (5-11, 175, 4.45) of Jacksonville (Fla.) Ed White is ranked the No. 5 cornerback in America by and he has listed LSU in his top five since early in the spring.

Winning the BCS National Championship will attract players from all parts of the country and that played a big factor in gaining Evans' attention early on.

Since the Tigers are out of the hunt for the BCS, and even the SEC championship, this season has that done anything to dampen his view on the state of the program?

"I still feel strongly about LSU," Evans told Tiger Rag. "I feel like the reason they are having a tough season is because they are young but next season I think they will do well."

Evans said he talks to one of the Tiger coaches every week. Two weeks ago Nick Saban gave him a call and last week it was Kirby Smart doing the honors.

"They call and we just talk about the program and how many they are losing at my positions," Evans said. "They like me as an athlete and tell me I can play receiver and corner."

Setting up official visits is something Evans has put on hold until he wraps up his senior season. Ed White is 4-4 and must win this Friday to have any chance at making the state playoffs.

When he does set up those officials he said LSU will get one of them with Florida, Florida State, Tennessee and Georgia getting the other four.

One thing has remained a constant with Evans in regards to recruiting and that is keeping things close to the vest. He claims that he does not have a leader out of the five schools mentioned and they are all similar in what they have to offer.

"They all have a lot in common because they always have good teams," he said. "They all play for BSC championships and big bowl games. They all have good athletes and I feel they are all pretty much even in what they have to offer."
