Jacksonville ATH Evans talks about LSU visit

Bryan Evans (5-11, 177, 4.45) of Jacksonville (Fla.) Ed White is the No. 1 athlete on Nick Saban's board and he took his first official visit last weekend to Baton Rouge to check out LSU.

Evans thought highly of the Tigers before his trip but he questioned whether or not he would feel comfortable being so far away from home. Well, after spending a couple of days in south Louisiana Evans got his answer.

"It was nice down there," Evans told Tiger Rag. I enjoyed it a lot. I felt real comfortable. They have a lot of guys from Florida so it made me feel kind of like I was at home. It was different in ways but everybody was so friendly."

How was it different?

"Coming from Jacksonville, Baton Rouge is different," he said. "In Jacksonville you have to get on the interstate to go anywhere. Baton Rouge is a city that is a lot easier to get around in. The food was different too. I ate stuff I've never heard of. We went and ate at Mike Anderson's and I ate scallops, clam strips and crab claws. It was good though."

While the food and the city made a good impression on Evans he was more interested in seeing the facilities and the support system for the athletes.

"I liked the academic center and the way you have a tutor for your whole freshman year," he said. "They showed us the indoor facility and what they are doing to the stadium. They also showed us all of the plans they have for the new facilities they are building. Everything was top notch."

As for the visit as a whole how did Evans rate it?

"It was not a 10," he said. "I'd give it a nine but it was close to being a 10."

While the visit received high marks from Evans he fell short of naming the Tigers his leader?

"I can't say they are my leader because I haven't taken the other trips yet," he said.

Nick Saban and Kirby Smart are scheduled to make an in-home visit with the standout cornerback/receiver and his family tonight to try and close the deal but don't look for him to give the Tigers a commitment. He still has three official visits remaining with Tennessee (12/10), Georgia (1/21) and Florida State (1/28) before he plans on making a decision.

Could this go all the way down to signing day?

"I think that is what it is coming down to," he replied.
