Hahnville's Young yet to visit LSU

Hahnville wide receiver Mark Young, a member of the 2002 Tiger Rag Dirty Dozen, had scheduled a visit to LSU last weekend, but his coach says there was a change of plans and he didn't make the trip. Will the Tigers fit into Young's travel plans before signing day on Feb. 6?

Lou Valdin, head coach and athletic director at Hahnville, said he learned earlier this week that Young did not make the trip to Baton Rouge last weekend. According to the coach, Young has yet to make any of his visits.

"He may not have had a ride or something like that. I don't know," Valdin said regarding the change of plans with LSU. "I know he said he wants to go to LSU when classes there are back in session."

The spring semester starts on Jan. 22 at LSU. According to Valdin, Young will visit Louisiana Tech this weekend and wants to go to Tulane on the weekend of Feb. 2. That would leave LSU a chance on Jan. 25. LSU coaches are planning to stop by Hahnville earlier that week, said Valdin.

Young (5-11, 190) was a key component of Hahnville's multiple offense in 2001. He was the favorite target of quarterback Nick Cannon, a Tulane commitment, to the tune of 1,356 yards and 14 touchdowns on 65 catches. The bulk of Young's yards came after the catch.
