Clark picks Alabama over LSU

Daphne, Ala., defensive lineman Jeremy Clark decided Tuesday evening he will stay in state to play college football. The Class 6A All-State selection committed to Alabama over LSU.

Clark (6-3, 275) was a All-State selection after Daphne finished the 2001 season with a 15-0 record as Class 6A state championships. He totaled 80 tackles and 9 sacks as a senior and, as a freshman at Daphne, was a teammate of current Alabama linemen Kenny King and Atlas Herrion.

So did the presence of the two former Daphne standouts on the Tide roster sway Clark's decision

"No, it really didn't," Clark said. "There both real good friends of mine, but I would have gone to Alabama even if they weren't there. It was just where I felt more comfortable."

Clark's commitment gives Alabama 14 early pledges as of Jan. 22. LSU has 20 verbal commitments heading into national signing day on Feb. 6.
