Alonzo Manuel adds name to LSU commitments

Alonzo Manuel wanted to check out Tulane before making up his mind about where he would attend college and play football. It didn't take long upon his return from New Orleans to decide it would be LSU. Manuel, a 6-foot-3, 240-pound defensive end from Jennings, becomes the 21st commitment for the Tigers in the 2002 recruiting class.

Manuel, a member of the 2002 Tiger Rag Dirty Dozen, picked the Tigers over Texas A&M, Auburn and Tulane. He finished his senior season at Jennings with 70 tackles and five sacks.

Jennings coach Rusty Phelps told Tiger Rag earlier this week that Manuel is up to 247 pounds - noteworthy because he is practicing and playing with the school's basketball team.
