Lady Tigers remain atop national polls

LSU's Lady Tigers basketball team remained the nation's No. 1 team in both the Associated Press poll and the ESPN/USA Today/WBCA poll after wins at Ole Miss and Mississippi State last week.

LSU (21-1, 8-0 SEC) received 44 first-place votes and 1,100 points in the AP poll to regain unanimous status (one voter did not vote). It is the eighth week the Lady Tigers have been ranked No. 1 this season and the 53rd consecutive week LSU has been ranked in the AP poll.

Thursday's Southeastern Conference showdown is now set as a match-up between the nation's No. 1 team against Tennessee, the fifth-ranked team in the country. The 6 p.m. CST tip at the Maravich Center also features the top two teams in the SEC, both entering the game with identical 8-0 conference records.

Close to 11,000 tickets have been sold, not including the allotment for students, for Thursday's game. Fans are encouraged to buy tickets early in the week to ensure a seat for the game. All tickets are reserve seats and can be purchased for $5 at the LSU ticket office in the Athletics Administration Building, by phone at (225) 578-2184) or on-line at www.LSUsports.net.

Because of the amount of tickets sold and the earlier than normal start time of 6 p.m., fans are also encouraged to arrive on campus early to ease parking on campus.

Students, faculty and staff that present an ID will be seated in the allotted student section on the PMAC and are also encouraged to arrive early to ensure a ticket into the game.
