Byrdsong joins brother at Mississippi State

Longview, Texas, linebacker Marvin Byrdsong has decided to join his brother, Shawn, and become a Mississippi State Bulldog. His decision comes after deciding to cancel a visit to LSU this past weekend.

"I am committed to Mississippi State," said Byrdsong. "I know the coaches well because my brother plays there. I just sat down with my mother and we felt that was the best place for me."

Byrdsong was originally scheduled to take his official visit to LSU on Jan. 25, but Tiger coaches contacted him before the trip and asked him to reschedule it for the weekend of Feb. 1. It appeared the the linebacker would juggle his schedule but he then decided to back out of the trip in order to celebrate his birthday over the weekend. By that time, he had narrowed his choices down to Mississippi State and Arkansas.

Marvin's brother, Shawn, is a starting defensive back for Mississippi State.
