Tigers take a chance with New Orleans receiver

With national signing day drawing closer, LSU is putting the last touches on its effort for 2002. The latest addition to the class is a wide receiver from New Orleans who missed more than half of his senior year for medical reasons.

Junior Joseph (6-2, 180, 4.4) of  O. Perry Walker High School may be the biggest diamond in the rough surprise in Louisiana this year. He was required to undergo a non-injury related surgical procedure following his fourth high school game of the 2001 season and was unavailable for the rest of the year.

He made his return to action last week in the Junior Global Football Championship played over the weekend in Hahnville. Team USA claimed the title from Team Canada in a 16-14 battle that was decided on the last play of the game.

Joseph says that he has been offered a scholarship by LSU and he has accepted.

Editor's Note: Joseph's qualifying status was included in the Max Emfinger report. Tiger Rag understand he is qualified and is busy trying to confirm this information and obtain more details on the latest LSU commitment.
