McDaniel switches from LSU to Texas A&M

After having been a commitment to LSU over the last four months, linebacker Archie McDaniel of Bay City, Texas, re-examined his choices and decided to switch his pledge to Texas A&M.

McDaniel joins his teammate, linebacker Nurahda Manning, as part of the Aggies' class of 2002. The Insiders.com Network rates McDaniel as the 12th best linebacker recruit in the country while Manning is placed at No. 30.

The late decision from McDaniel means another player might emerge for LSU as a signee as late as tomorrow - national signing day - when players send in their signed letters of intent to the college of their choice.

The Tigers are not likely to receive letters from two prospects who finalized their decisions yesterday. Wide receiver Ben Obomanu of Selma, Ala., gave his word to Auburn, while cornerback Nic Brooks of Warner Robins, Ga., opted for Florida. Both players had LSU among their finalists.
