PRACTICE REPORT: Tigers return to practice field

The LSU football team went back to work on Tuesday, practicing for just over two hours in short and helmets following a 10-day layoff for spring break.

Tuesday's practice marked the sixth for the Tigers this spring. LSU will practice again on Wednesday followed by another workout on Friday before holding its first full fledged scrimmage of the spring on Saturday in Tiger Stadium.

"We got out with no pads today, just helmets and assessed some long-yardage situations," LSU coach Les Miles said after Tuesday's workout. "For a day that we didn't have pads on, we got some things done.

"Today we accomplished what we needed to. It wasn't a real football practice without pads. I can't wait until tomorrow when we get the pads back on."

The Tigers wrapped up Tuesday's workout with the two-minute drill with sophomore quarterbacks JaMarcus Russell and Matt Flynn directing the offense. When asked about the quarterback position, Miles replied, "both guys are competing pretty well. They're talented. They just need snaps. I think they're competing very evenly right now."
