Kreamer a big hitter for Evangel

Several SEC schools are showing a strong interest in Shreveport-Evangel safety Dan Kreamer and for good reason.

The 6-foot, 195-pounder has 4.5-speed and is a ferocious hitter in the secondary. As a junior, he logged 136 tackles and four interceptions for Evangel.

Kreamer plays free safety for the Eagles and has the skills to play there at the college level but he will also get a good look at the strong spot.

"I'm a hitter," Kreamer said in an earlier interview with Tiger Rag. "I love to roam the field and make plays. You have to be a big and strong safety these days but you also have to be able to cover. I feel like I can do both."

The blue chip safety is still waiting on his first scholarship offer but there are four schools that are doing more than sending out the usual recruiting letters.

"LSU, Florida, Tennessee and Alabama are probably recruiting me the hardest," he said. "Florida sends the most hand-written letters. I get about three a week from them."

Kreamer attended LSU's Junior Day a few weeks ago and since then LSU assistant coach Todd Monken has been staying in touch. College coaches can't call prospects until the May evaluation period begins but he is letting him know that he is high on the Tigers' list.

"He (Monken) wrote me a couple of weeks ago and said he enjoyed having me down for junior day," Kreamer said. "He said he was looking forward to seeing me at one of their summer camps. He said they would come by in the spring to see our spring game and that I was one of the top safeties on their board."

Kreamer said he is undecided about his summer camp schedule but LSU, Florida and Alabama are the ones he is looking into. Ironically, those are also the schools at the top of his list.

"Florida, LSU and Alabama are my top three," he said. "I like those three a lot. I‘ve always liked the SEC and love that style of football."
