The awards are intended to highlight those student-athletes who give back to their community through superior service efforts.
Conine, a senior from Hewitt, Texas, who wrapped up his eligibility this spring, completed over 65 hours of community service work during the 2004-05 school year. His activities included visiting patients at Our Lady of the Lady Regional Hospital, volunteering at the local soup kitchen and participating in an Alzheimer's Walk/Run event.
In addition, Conine played bingo with residents at a local retirement home and participated in LSU's annual BOOzar, where Tiger student-athletes trick-or-treat with children in the community.
Bertrand, a sophomore from Elton, volunteered at the Louisiana School for the Deaf, visited patients at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Hospital, spent time with children at area elementary schools and participated in LSU's BOOzar.
Good deeds rewarded
