PROFILE 2003: Steven Hogan (TE)

Houston tight end Steven Hogan has the athletic and academic credentials to attract some of the top schools in the country.

It's never easy to pull a player out of Texas and you would think it would be near impossible when someone has all the ties to the University of Texas as Hogan has.

"Both of my parents went to Texas," Hogan said. "My dad played on the football team there and so did my grandfather who also played on the baseball team. Growing up, Texas was definitely my favorite school and they still are but Stanford is right there.

"Stanford has already offered me a scholarship and they're recruiting me really hard. I haven't heard from Texas yet. Boston College has also offered and I'm getting mail from Texas A&M, Baylor, LSU, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Michigan, Texas Christian, Florida, Iowa and Wisconsin.

"I'm going to camp at both Texas and Stanford for sure. I plan on going to a lot of other camps too, I'm just not sure which ones. I'm also going to the Nike Camp at College Station."

Academically, Hogan is carrying a 4.16 GPA and will take the SAT later in the year. He also stars on the basketball team averaging 11 points and 12 rebounds and runs track as well.
