"Truthfully, the group of ACC sites that TheInsiders has is amazing and is, without a doubt, the best collection of ACC sites on the Net," said Cagle, who founded DeaconSports.com in 1998. "I've had the pleasure of working and communicating with the guys at InsideCarolina, DukeBasketballReport, TheDevilsDen, StruttingWolf, and they have been great. Continuing to work with them should be a great experience."
Jim Heckman, the CEO of TheInsiders.com, said, "This is an exciting addition to an already dynamite ACC lineup. It's almost humbling to have such a collection of sites choose to work with us. Many of those sites are among the largest, most well known and well-done team sites on the entire Web. Spencer Cagle is a stud, and joining us now gives the network a great handle on March Madness."
Like StruttingWolf.com and TerpTown.com before it, DeaconSports.com will be teamed with the appropriate, huge and vibrant community at ACCBoards.
"ACCBoards was a big reason I made the switch from an independent to TheInsiders instead of joining any other network," Cagle said. "ACCBoards has been a major affiliate of DeaconSports.com for a long while and working with Kent Newsome has been great over the years. He is a great guy and teaming up with him for years to come just sounded too good."
Since its inception, DeaconSports.com has offered strong coverage of football and basketball recruiting, coverage that now will be bolstered by TheInsiders.com's nationally renowned recruiting experts.
Though he prided himself on being independent, Cagle said the combination of ACCBoards, ACC conference partners and TheInsiders.com's recent deal with Yahoo! was too powerful to ignore.
"TheInsiders was a good deal for me because of their partnerships with ACCBoards, Yahoo!, and the proven individuals including Jim Heckman on staff at TheInsiders," Cagle said. "They have developed into a large online community in just a few short months and the growing looks to have just begun. Yahoo! played a huge role in my decision to join TheInsiders, as it is one of the largest companies on the Web. Its name and the partnership setup with TheInsiders were just too much to pass up."
