A Mississippi high school known for turning out a wealth of basketball talent is home to one of the state's top football prospects, too.
Jackson (Miss.) Provine High School is loaded with talent once again with players like Robert Hough, Greg Clark and Jeremy Young. But perhaps the most sought after player, not just at Provine but in the state of Mississippi, could be Quinton Culberson. Culberson plays on both sides of the ball but he projects as a strong safety or linebacker at the next level, depending on how big he gets.
"Man he is very athletic," said Provine Head Coach Willie Collins. "He could play receiver or safety in college, but if he doesn't watch it, he could grow into a linebacker." Culberson placed second last season in the state high jump (6-8) and he also participates in the long and triple jump.
"It doesn't matter what side of the ball I play on," said Culberson. "I have speed and quickness, good hands, and I love to hit. To be honest with you, cornerback is the position where I actually feel the most comfortable at and it is my favorite position."
Right now, Culberson says he is open between Ole Miss, Mississippi State, LSU, Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee. He plans on camping at Ole Miss and Mississippi State and possibly some others as well. "I want to play early. That is the big thing. I also am looking at coaching, academics and a winning tradition."
