The reigning Douglas County Player of the Year is back for his senior season to pick up where he left off and try and improve on his already impressive numbers. Armand Cauthen (6-2 195) had 43 catches for 540 yards last season, which would be modest numbers for some of the more wide open offenses, but those 43 catches were a Douglas County school record.
"Coach (Phil) Williams said that he had never had a player catch 43 balls in his coaching career," said Armand's dad Arthur.
Armand says he has lofty goals for this year. He has the talent to do it, but will the ball get thrown enough at Douglas County?
"I'd like to break 1000 yards receiving this year," said Cauthen. "1000 yards and all state, those are my 2 personal goals for the season."
Cauthen has several camps scheduled for this season including the Nike Camp in Athens, Ga., on April 28th.
"I'm going to the Nike Camp, the UGA camp, and the Auburn camp for sure, and I'm trying to get scheduled camps to Virginia and Maryland. The schools that I'm looking at the hardest right now are LSU, Auburn, UGA, Duke, Clemson, UVA, Maryland, and NC State."
"We've been on unofficial trips to Auburn, Clemson, and Georgia so far," said Arthur. "We've heard from almost every school in the SEC and the ACC and several others in the south like Tulane and Louisville."
