Headed to LSU

LSU picked up its third commitment of the day on Wednesday when Houston (Texas) Westfield safety Danny McCray (6-1, 205, 4.47) gave his verbal commitment to Les Miles.

"I committed today," McCray said. "I love everything about LSU. They present the best opportunity for me to earn a good education and to win a championship."

McCray projects as a strong safety but he could very easily grow into a linebacker. He is a huge hitter with good speed that registered 96 tackles and two interceptions last season.

Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Arizona also offered the standout defender but in the end LSU was everything he was looking for.

"Once I saw their facilities and felt what it was like to be on their campus I just knew that was where I wanted to play," he said. "Then I saw how big the stadium is and all of the facilities and that was just icing on the cake."

McCray should have no problems qualifying academically with a 3.9 GPA and a 1400 on the SAT under his belt.
