PROFILE 2003: Chauncey Washington (RB)

One of the most exciting running backs in the state of California is South Torrance's Chauncey Washington. With his size, speed and ability, he could be a potential All-American selection next season.

Washington attended the Nike Camp in San Diego a year ago and measured out at 6-0, 188 pounds. He was in the office today and said he's now up to 6-1, 205 pounds and looked it. He's very well put together and has a college body already.

Washington ran a 4.54 at the camp a year ago and has home run hitting ability. He's a big back with the speed to go the distance and has great natural running back instincts. He has a smooth running style but will run over you without thinking twice about it. Along with Reggie Bush from Helix, Washington looks like the top returning back in the state for next season.

Boston College has offered Washington and he's also hearing from the entire Pac 10, Nebraska, Illinois, Northwestern, Colorado, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, UNLV, LSU, Duke and BYU. He has attended Junior Days at USC and UCLA and the two Los Angeles schools are his current leaders at this time.

"I like the whole Pac 10 but USC and UCLA are my top two in that order right now," Washington said. "Nebraska is up there too. I'm just looking for a school with a good combination of academics and athletics. I would also like to run track in college as well as play football."

Washington will attend the Nike Camp in Los Angeles and will also camp at USC and UCLA over the summer.
