PRACTICE REPORT: August 12-Morning

The LSU Football team returned to the practice field Friday morning for its second day of rehearsals in full pads.

The Tigers will practice twice Friday, with the entire squad practicing together both times. Two-a-day practices earlier in the week were split squad, with veterans practicing in the mornings and newcomers practicing in the afternoon session.

LSU practiced as a full squad in full pads for the first time yesterday.

The Tigers began Friday's practice similarly to the way they have started each practice this week, with individual squads working on technique and fundamentals.

All four Tiger quarterbacks received equal repetitions throwing a variety of passes along the sidelines and across the middle of the field with each receiver having the opportunity to run the same number of routes.

The battle of who has the strongest arm has come down to sophomore JaMarcus Russell and freshman Ryan Perrilloux, though Perrilloux seems to be struggling slightly with his accuracy, overthrowing several sideline passes and throwing behind a few receivers between the hashes.

While quarterbacks and receivers worked together, the full compliment of Tiger running backs worked on tackle breaking and footwork, with Justin Vincent and Alley Broussard receiving compliments from running backs' coach Larry Porter for their explosiveness and ability to run through would-be tacklers.

Junior strong safety Jesse Daniels was the only player who showed any sign of injury. He was dressed in a green jersey, an indication that he was not to be involved in contact drills. Daniels is reportedly still nursing an injured wrist from last season though the exact reason why he was wearing the green jersey is not known.

Left tackles, tight ends and full backs worked on blocking against defensive ends and tackles on running situations during periods four and five as media members were being escorted off the field.

The Tigers will return to the practice facility this afternoon at 3:45.
